Our two Wagtails shops exist to raise much needed funds that are used to provide safe shelter, veterinary care and food for all the lost, abandoned and homeless animals at our shelter at AWS PE in Victoria Drive. Not only does your support help us to raise funds for our shelter, but it also helps the less fortunate people from our nearby communities that make use of our shop.
In order for us to raise funds through our shops, we rely on donations, shoppers and volunteers. Although we sell donated items, most of what we receive is in good condition and often brand new! Of course we also have treasures of yesteryear, the rare and collectible, the funky, the modern and contemporary and the useful! We therefore urge you to come and have a look for yourself, you never know what you might find!

How can I help?
There are many ways in which you can support our Wagtails shops:
DONATE: Donating is a great way to help us raise funds for our animals, recycle your old items and help out the community. Please keep us in mind when cleaning out cupboards, downsizing, revamping, moving house or simply just throwing out unwanted goods. Your gifts to us are what keeps our business flowing. (Please see our wishlist below for items we need.)
BROWSE & BUY: Apart from donations, we also need the support of people browsing and buying some of the wonderful and interesting goods we have on display. You will never know what treasures you may find! (Please see our wishlist for items we sell.)
VOLUNTEER: If you would like to help AWS PE but you feel a bit unsure about working with animals you can always consider volunteering at one of our fundraising shops. You can make a difference to the lives of our animals in many ways whilst volunteering there. You will meet lots of different people, make new friends, learn new skills and have fun.
Do you have special talents? A passion for fashion - then sorting and displaying our clothes could be for you? Do you have an artistic eye - our arts and crafts section needs a creative twist. Are you a book lover – enrich lives through the awesome power of organizing, displaying and encouraging people to buy our books. Are you a social media enthusiast - we are in desperate need for a keen enthusiast to help us advocate our shops.
Whatever your hobby or interest, we have enough projects to suit most tastes and interests! You are most welcome to become a Wagtails volunteer. Your interest, energy and enthusiasm can raise money for a good cause making a real difference. We therefore ask you to please consider helping us by working one or two shifts per week; either the morning shift (09h00 – 13h00) or the afternoon shift (13h00 -16h30).
LIKE US ON FACEBOOK: By liking us on Facebook and sharing our posts, you are spreading the word and broadening our exposure. The more people know about us, the greater our chance of making a difference for our cause. It will bring us more support in the form of shoppers, volunteers or donations and in turn we can do what we do best – raise funds to help the lost, abandoned and homeless animals at our shelter!
To help in any way, please call Wagtails on 060 518 0149 or visit us at 130 Albert Road, corner of 6th Avenue and Albert Road, Walmer, Port Elizabeth.
