We are fortunate to be one of only a few animal welfare organisations to have an animal hospital. Our hospital is located on our premises and is registered with the South African Veterinary Council.
Our animal hospital has a fully equipped theatre, which offers basic surgery and sterilisations undertaken by our qualified veterinarian.
Basic veterinary services are offered at our clinic for pets of underprivileged owners, who would otherwise not be able to afford veterinary care. As living costs keep increasing, sadly the number of pet owners who apply for animal welfare rates are increasing as well.
Our hospital treats hundreds of animals every year, including those housed at AWS(PE) and we rely on the contributions from loyal supporters to help subsidise veterinary care.
From simple health checks and vaccinations to severe illness and injury, our veterinarian deals with a diverse array of medical cases daily. Most animals are sent home with the necessary drugs and treatment while seriously ill animals are retained at AWS(PE) for further treatment.
All animals admitted to AWS(PE) are seen by the veterinarian and undergo a stringent health check to ensure that contagious and fatal diseases do not endanger the lives of other animals.
